As a child of the 60’s and 70’s, television was very different than it is today. We had 4 networks available at our house. There was not a lot of choices, we did however develop a habit of watching shows. We looked forward to the new shows every week, with new shows starting in September and having long runs for the season. A staple of network television was the police/detective show. Just like CSI and others today, we had our favorites. here is some questions about those vintage shows that started it all.

1. Quinn Martin literally wrote the book of cop shows on TV. Starting with the Untouchables, The Streets of San Francisco, and ending with Barnaby Jones. With whom did he start his career in television production?

A. Desilu, Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball’s production company
B. Carol Burnett productions.

2. S.W.A.T was a spin-off off the other great police drama of the 1970s – “The Rookies” SWAT told the stories of an elite police unit called Special Weapons and Tactics Unit or S.W.A.T for short. What unusual thing happened to the show that usually did not happen in the 70’s.

A. It was a successful spin off
B. The Theme song made to the top 10 billboard charts for 1975.

3. “Who loves ya, baby?” was the trademark phrase of New York City Police Detective Lt. Theo Kojak. What other trademark thing did he do?

A. Sucked on Lollipops
B. Smoked heavily
